Stephen M. LaCroix, 63, of Grand Rapids passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth on Monday, Jan. 14, 2013. He was surrounded by his loving family. Stephen was a musician for many years and played in numerous bands in the Southwest MN area. He owned LaCroix & Sons Guitars, a pro-guitar shop located in Marshall, and was well known as a guitar technician extraordinaire. Music was his passion but he was also an accomplished photographer, poet, loved reading scientific journals, bird watching, rock hunting and word games.
He is survived by Melody, his wife of 37 years, his siblings Roger LaCroix Jr. of Bozeman, Mont., Edward and Jennifer LaCroix of Phoenix, Ariz., Ellen and Bruce Hostetler of Pequot Lakes; in-laws Edward and LaVonne Walters of Effie, MN; sister- and brother-in-law Kristal and James Rutledge of Hibbing; niece Melissa and Brian Land, nephews Philip Hostetler, Brandon Johnson, and Thomas Johnson; and great-nephews Trevor Land and Jason Land, great-niece Ashelia Johnson.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held in the spring to allow his many friends to travel to the area. Bless his spirit.
