MARSHALL – Services for Mary Juel, 77, of Marshall are at 2 p.m. Thursday at Rehkamp-Horvath Funeral Home in Marshall. Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mary died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D., after four years of declining health.
Mary Jane (Sims) Juel was born Sept. 8, 1935, in Keokuk, Iowa, to Ralph and Ethel (Peterson) Sims. She grew up in Keokuk and graduated from Keokuk High School. In 1970, she was united in marriage to John N. Juel in Willmar. The couple lived in Springdale, Ariz., Sioux City, Iowa, Reading, Pa., and Jasper, Ind., before settling in Marshall in 1984. Mary was very creative and enjoyed crafts and sewing. She also enjoyed reading. She was a good cook and made sure none of her guests went hungry. Mary owned and operated a slightly used clothing store for a time.
She is survived by her husband, John, of Marshall; children Scott (and RoseMarie) DePew of Carthage, Mo., Patrick (and Cyndi) DePew of Fayetteville, Ark., Christi (and Bob) McCallen of Wabash, Ind., Tim DePew (and Tracy Beaird) of Milroy, the Rev. Amy (and Robert) Juel-Palmer of Willmar; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
Memorials preferred to the National Kidney Foundation at 30 East 33rd St.
