SLAYTON – Services for Lawrence Roy Noomen, 86, of Slayton will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Reformed Church in Slayton. Burial is at Slayton Memorial Gardens, Slayton. Military honors accorded by Slayton American Legion Post and the Slayton VFW Post. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday at the Totzke Funeral Home in Slayton. Visitation will also be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Reformed Church in Slayton.
He died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at the Golden Living Center-Slayton.
He was born April 6, 1926, on the family farm near Sheldon, Iowa, to Wynard and Ruth (Kooiker) Noomen. On Oct. 5, 1946, he enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged March 8, 1948.
Survivors include his children, LeAnn Hellewell of Newark, Calif., Larry of Zephyr Cove, Nev., Loretta Gervais of Currie, Lynelle Lanoue of Alexandria, Lowell of Rock Springs, Wyo., and Loren of Champlin; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; and sisters, Gertrude and Gladys Beltman, both of Sheldon, Iowa.
