No injuries in car fire Saturday

MARSHALL – A car was destroyed in a fire reported Saturday afternoon on East College Drive, but no one was hurt.

Marshall Fire Chief Marc Klaith said the Marshall Fire Department responded to a report of a vehicle fire around 3 p.m. Saturday. Klaith said the driver of a Pontiac Grand Prix reported hearing a pop from the vehicle. When the driver exited the car in a parking lot near East College Drive, there was fire coming from under the hood of the car, Klaith said.

The Grand Prix was a total loss, Klaith said. The fire was in the car’s engine compartment, he said, but at this time it’s not known what caused the fire.

There were no injuries in the fire, Klaith said.
