Late field goal sinks Laker girls against KMS
Playing its fifth game in eight days, the Lakeview girls’ basketball team came up just short versus Camden Conference foe Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg in Cottonwood on Saturday.
Lakeview’s Corbyn Wee sunk one of her nine made free throws on the day to tie the game at 66-66 with 40 seconds remaining, but Ali Clark’s 10-footer with 4 ticks to go lifted the Saints to the 68-66.
Wee finished with 19 points in defeat, while also dishing out seven assists. Brianna Hoffman paced the Lakers with 20 points, six rebounds, two steals and seven blocks. Madi Nelson added 10 points and four assists to the Lakeview cause.
KMS was led by Clark’s 21-point, 11-rebound double-double, and also received a healthy 16 points and seven assists from Samantha Dunn. Clark swatted four of the Saints’ six blocks in the win.
The Lakers (9-15 overall, 4-9 Camden) get a well earned break before their next contest, as Lakeview hosts Canby on Friday.
