Genevieve Alvilda Florence Schenck was born May 15, 1919, to Louis and Gurina (Hanson) Hill at Balaton. On Dec. 7, 1938, Genevieve was united in marriage to Carrol M. Schenck at her parents’ home in Balaton. They lived in Balaton for a few years. Then they moved to California in 1941 where she worked in the shipyards during World War II. They returned to Minnesota and farmed for a few years and then moved to Russell where she was the head cook at the Russell School for 18 years.

Carrol passed away on April 7, 1994, and then Genevieve moved to the Marshall Square Apartments. She was a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church while living in Russell and following her move to Marshall joined the First Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Priscilla Circle.

Survivors include her three sons, Eugene, Lyle and Dennis; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Carrol; 11 brothers and sisters; and a great grandson.

The love of her life was doing things with and for her family and being with neighbors. Other enjoyments were spending time at the Adult Community Center, playing Bingo and going on short trips.

Blessed be the memory of Genevieve Schenck
