Renewal by Andersen presents Geske Home Improvement with its 2012 Homeowner Satisfaction Award
Renewal by Andersen, the start-to-finish window replacement subsidiary of Andersen Corporation, is pleased to present its Marshall retailer, Geske Home Improvement Company, with its 2012 Homeowner Satisfaction Award.
This award is given by Renewal by Andersen Corporation to the retail location that has maintained a superior customer satisfaction rating throughout the year on its post-installation survey administered by a third party. Winners of this award are outstanding examples of leadership and best exemplify the values of Renewal by Andersen.
“The award is an honor and an amazing recognition for the very things we do every day to make sure our customers are happy. It says a lot about the people who work here too,” said owner Tom Geske.
Geske Home Improvement Company, in its 39th year of business in southwest Minnesota, has been a Renewal by Andersen retailer since 1999. In 2012, Geske Home Improvement received the Homeowner Satisfaction Decade Award, which recognized its 10-year commitment to always focusing on customer satisfaction.
SW/WC SC staff to present at national convention
Two SW/WC Service Cooperative staff have been selected to present at the 39th Annual Association for Behavior Analysis International Convention. Ryan Groeneweg, behavior analyst, and Garry Wickerd, behavior specialist/autism specialist, will conduct a poster session on their “Go Green” Program.
“Go Green” is an intervention package designed for use in lower elementary classrooms to reduce student disruption while increasing targeted positive behaviors. The program was initially implemented across three kindergarten classrooms. Preliminary results suggest significant decreases in student disruption during the initial phase. Teachers implementing the intervention report high acceptability. Discipline referrals also decreased significantly.
The ABAI Annual Convention will take place May 24-28 in Minneapolis.
Local Thrivent Financial representatives receive long-term care designation
Greg Nolting, financial consultant, and Josh Johnson, financial associate with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, have been awarded a professional designation in the field of long-term care, Certified in Long-Term Care. The program is independent of the insurance industry and focuses on providing financial service professionals the tools needed to meet their client’s long-term care needs.
The Certified in Long-Term Care program is the long-term care insurance industry’s only independent professional designation. Created in 1999, the course is focused on the field of long-term care planning and provides legal, accounting, insurance and financial service professionals the critical tools necessary to address the subject matter with their middle-age clients.

Cha new dentist at Smile Designers
Michael R. Thomas, DDS of Smile Designers, welcomes a new associate, Dr. Dongwuk “D.W.” Cha, to the firm. Cha is a graduate of the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. He served as a platoon leader in the Korean Army before entering dental school.
Prior to coming to Marshall, Cha worked in the Twin Cities area. He is married and has one son.
Patrons of CHS Marshall share in CHS cash distribution
More than 1,240 eligible patrons of CHS Marshall will share in the distribution of $4.1 million in patronage and equity during 2013 based on business they’ve conducted with the company.
CHS Marshall is a locally-controlled retail division of CHS Inc. During 2013, CHS Marshall will pay out $1.6 million in cash of the overall $4.1 million in patronage dividends distributed to its eligible customers based on business done Sept. 1, 2011- Aug. 31, 2012
If they have not already done so, individuals who have reached age 70 and representatives of the estates of deceased members are encouraged to contact Todd Reif and request redemption of their equity. CHS makes equity redemptions to eligible individual direct members throughout the year, based on attaining age 70 or estate retirements, but potentially eligible individuals must initiate contact.
United FCS distributing $5.2 million in cash patronage
United FCS continues sharing its financial success with its member-owners in the form of 100 percent cash patronage – announcing that it will be distributing $5.2 million in cash patronage in late February. This patronage distribution (a return of a portion of the Association’s net earnings to eligible customers) raises the combined total patronage paid to more than $60 million since 2002. United FCS posted record net earnings in 2012 due in part to continued growth in both loan volume and membership. As a result of exceptional Association performance in 2012, the patronage distribution for 2012 (payable Feb. 26, 2013) was set at $5.2 million.
United FCS is a member-owned financial services association and is affiliated with the Farm Credit System, a nationwide network of borrower-owned lending institutions.
A.M. Best Company affirms Modern Woodmen’s A+ rating
A.M. Best Company, an independent insurance industry rating agency, recently affirmed Modern Woodmen of America’s financial strength rating. A.M. Best rates Modern Woodmen’s financial stability, security and management performance as A+ (Superior), the second highest of 15 ratings.
With an offices in Cottonwood and Marshall, the fraternal financial services organization received the rating based on a comprehensive quantitative evaluation of the organization’s balance sheet strength, operating performance and business profile. Insurers in the superior category are considered to have a superior ability to meet their ongoing obligations.
“For more than 130 years, Modern Woodmen has been strong and secure,” said Glenda Vizecky, local financial representative. “This rating confirms that.”
ReStore announces move to Highway 59
ReStore, the Habitat for Humanity home improvement outlet, has relocated to 300 N. U.S. Highway 59 in Marshall. The store, which has a new e-mail address, email@example.com, is now open for business in its new, larger business. The store carries new and used building materials, furniture, appliances and more for up to 80 percent off retail prices.
