STARBUCK – Services for James Michael Fifield, 69, of Starbuck will take place in Starbuck followed by burial in Arco City Cemetery, Arco.
He died Feb. 15, 2013, at his home.
Jim was born Sept. 17, 1943, in Marshall to Milton “Swede” Fifield and Marie (Pedersen) Fifield. He graduated from Marshall Public High School in Marshall. In 1961 and following graduation he attended Mankato State College at Mankato.
On Jan. 11, 1962, Jim entered active duty with the United States Air Force. He served in the USAF at Charleston, S.C., until his honorable discharge as airman first class on Oct. 10, 1966. While there Jim served on the burial detail, providing honors to fallen service men and women.
Upon discharge from the Air Force he was employed by Campbell Soup Co. in Omaha, Neb., for several years and then entered into a partnership in the paint business. He later gained employment with Dycast Specialties Co. at Starbuck and retired after nine years.
Jim loved the town of Starbuck and the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing and also had a great passion for horses, his nephew Jim’s dog and most other animals.
Surviving him are his brother, Jack (and Marcy) Fifield of Pierre, S.D.; sister, Jenyne (and Bob) Bagley of Arco; nephew, Jim; niece Jan; and special friend, Jan Peterson.
James Fifield was preceded in death by his parents, Swede and Marie; and his brother, Jerry.
