SLAYTON – Services for Stanley “Red” Egenes, 72 of Slayton, formerly of Storden, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Slayton. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Friday until the time of the service at the church. Burial will be at Amo Lutheran Cemetery south of Storden. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers. Stephens Funeral Service – Westbrook Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
He died Saturday, April 6, 2013, at his home in Slayton after an extended illness.
He was born Oct. 20, 1940, on the family farm south of Storden to Lars and Dessie (Earp) Egenes.
He entered the Army Corps of Engineers in 1961 and served until he received his honorable discharge in December 1963.
Survivors include his wife Ruth; children: Lori Johnson of Marshall, Randy of Hawarden, Iowa, and Darrin of Watertown, N.Y.; seven grandchildren and a great-granddaughter; and siblings Harriet Moller of Jeffers, David of Lamberton and Linda Pauling of Virginia.
