ACMC-Marshall showcases new clinic

MARSHALL – The weather outside was less than ideal, but it didn’t dampen the celebrations at the new Affiliated Community Medical Centers-Marshall clinic’s open house Thursday. Local residents turned out to tour the new building on Carlson Street and meet ACMC staff members.

“We are very proud and pleased with the new location,” said ACMC-Marshall site manager Shana Zahrbock, speaking to a gathering of local residents and Marshall officials.

The new Marshall clinic, located near Kmart and the Market Street Mall, has been open and serving patients since March 18. However, a formal ribbon-cutting and open house was Thursday afternoon. Snowy weather in the region meant some small changes to the program, but ACMC physicians and staff stepped in to host the ceremony in addition to guiding tours and welcoming visitors.

The new clinic is much more of a “one stop shop” for patients, ACMC staff said Thursday. Departments and services ranging from imaging to internal medicine, pediatrics and visiting specialists are all available in the same building.

“Now we’re able to come back together as a group,” said Dr. Steven Meister, a physician with ACMC-Marshall.

As she showed community members around the new clinic, Dr. Jill Vroman said she had seen some instances where having almost all the clinic services under one roof helped patients and doctors. It can speed up the process of having a procedure scheduled, she said, and it’s also faster for doctors to consult with each other.

Of course, the brighter atmosphere inside the clinic was another plus.

“The windows make it so much better,” Vroman said.

ACMC is keeping its clinic space at the Market Street Mall, but it will be used for a sleep lab and medical records offices. ACMC staff said the new building also has room to expand, with enough office space for additional physicians.

The new clinic was good thing for the Marshall community, said Meister and Marshall Area Chamber of Commerce Director Cal Brink. Having a wide range of options available for medical care is something that draws people to Marshall, they said.

“This is a great place, and it will only help to grow our community further,” Meister said.

“We’ve been committed to the community for over 25 years, and we will continue to be committed to the community,” said Dr. Jane Willett.
