MINNEOTA – Services for John Claeys, 88, of Minneota will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Hope Lutheran Church in Minneota. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Military honors will be provided by the Minneota Honor Guard. A private family burial will be at a later date. The Sunset Funeral and Cremation Association of Echo and Wabasso is handling the arrangements for the family.
He died Thursday, April 4, 2013, at the Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center in Marshall.
He was born Sept. 23, 1924, to Alfons and Anna (Van Schriek) Claeys in Taunton, Lyon County. He enlisted into the United States Air Force and served his country until his honorable discharge in 1950.
Survivors include his wife, Arlene of Minneota; children, Mark of Salt Lake City, Utah, Molly Zobrist of Canby, Jennifer Katz of Minneota, Susan Restoff of Glouchester, Va., Kevin of Arlington, S.D., Nancy of Wood Lake, Melanie Haggard of Wood Lake, Marna Lipinski of Marshall and Kristin Mustafa of Willmar; 23 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren.
