TAUNTON – Services for Shane Johnson, 41, of Taunton will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the American Legion Hall in Minneota. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Rehkamp-Horvath Funeral Home in Minnesota. A private burial will take place at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Minneota. Military honors provided by Military Funeral Honors Program.
He died Tuesday, April 9, 2013.
Shane Joel Johnson was born Jan. 1, 1972, in Marshall, to Ardell and Jeanne (Claeys) Johnson. He grew up in Minneota and graduated from Minneota High School Shane then attended vocational technical school in Willmar for a couple of years. When he was 17, Shane enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve. He served for six months in the Persian Gulf during Operation Desert Storm. He was honorably discharged from the Reserve in 2002. In 2003, he enlisted with the Appleton Unit of the U.S. National Guard. He served two deployments in Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. On July 28, 2007, he was united in marriage to Emily Tveit in Everett, Wash. Shane worked as a maintenance technician for the National Guard and also enjoyed helping his father, Dell, with his farm operations. He enjoyed fishing, motorcycling and auto racing. He was most passionate about spending time with his family, especially his children.
Survivors include his wife, Emily; children Parker, Ryeland and Abel of Taunton, Tyler of Fergus Falls, Maria and Carson of Lamberton; parents, Ardell and Jeanne Johnson of Minneota; siblings Scott (and Nicole) Johnson of Taunton, Seth (and Alyssa) Johnson of Porter, Stephanie (and Joey) DeVlieger of Duluth, Sadie (and Chad) Stripling of Parker, Colo.; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
