MINNEOTA – Mass of Christian Burial for Daniel Laleman, 87, of Minneota will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Edward Catholic Church in Minneota. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today with a Rosary at 4 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Rehkamp-Horvath Funeral Home in Minneota. Visitation continues from 9-10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial is at St. Edward Catholic Cemetery in Minneota.

He died Monday, April 22, 2013, at his residence in Minneota.

Daniel Omer Laleman was born Jan. 18, 1926, in Marshall, to Maurice and Helene (and Slembroeck) Laleman. He grew up on the family farm south of Minneota. On Jan. 18, 1949, he was united in marriage to Agnes Goossens. The couple farmed and raised their family near Minneota until moving into town in 1989. Daniel worked for Heartland Foods and Wal-Mart where he enjoyed tending to the pet fish. He also enjoyed woodcarving, especially birds, and vegetable gardening.

Survivors include his children; Pat (and Clarence) Louwagie of Cottonwood, Dave (and Janell) Laleman of Minneota, Fran (and Joyce) Laleman of Minneota, Ed (and Bonnie) Laleman of Minneota, Rosemary (and Robert) Novotny of Westminster, Colo., and Gary (and Bonnie) Laleman of Ghent; grandchildren; Terry (and Jackie) Louwagie, Karen (and Travis) Jackson, Darin (and Heidi) Louwagie, Renae (and John) Robbins, Amber (and Brad) DeBriyn, Leiah Louwagie, Angela (and Jim) Loftus, Tony (and Josie) Laleman, Jeff Jessica) Laleman, Lori Wersal, Chad (and Jenny) Laleman, Ryan (and Julie) Laleman, Brad (and Becky) Laleman, Bruce (and Laurie) Laleman, Tim (and Alyssa) Laleman, Rick (and Carol) Laleman, Danelle (and Rob) Wardlaw, Karla Novotny, Lauren Novotny, Drew Laleman and Spencer Laleman; 35 great-grandchildren; siblings, Omer Laleman, Etien (and Marian) Laleman of Minneota, Leona Thooft of Tyler, Mary Ann Buysse of Minneota and Bernice Wyffels of Donna, Texas; sister-in-law, Bertha Laleman; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes; grandchildren, Mike and Ken and great-grandson, Bruce John; brother, Joe Laleman; brothers-in-law Harold Buysse, Elmo Wyffels, Amandus Thooft; and sister-in-law Zona Laleman.
