MARSHALL – Mass of Christian Burial for Lucy Martha Carlson, 91, of Marshall will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Church of St. Therese in Deephaven. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. prior to the Mass. Burial will be at Groveland Cemetery, Minnetonka.
Lucy died peacefully Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall with her daughters at her side.
Lucy Martha Carlson was born March 30, 1922, in Albany to Henry and Stella (Keppers) Ludwig. She grew up on the farm with four sisters and five brothers. On Aug. 31, 1944, she was united in marriage to Fendell George Carlson at the Church of Seven Dolors in Albany. Lucy enjoyed all aspects of homemaking, gardening, entertaining and cooking. She enjoyed good friends, and loved to vacation with Fendell and their children and grandchildren. Lunch on the boat with Grandma Lucy was a favorite activity for all her grandchildren. In 2002 Lucy and Fendell moved from their home of 50 years in Minnetonka to Boulder Estates in Marshall.
Lucy is survived by her children, Carol (and Dale) Streimikes of Roseburg, Ore., Janet (and Tom) Vandendriessche of Marshall, and Laura Carlson of Portland, Ore.; her grandchildren Kristina, Katie, Jenny, Jeff, Patrick and Johanna; great-grandchildren Nicole and Emily; her sisters Theresa Evans of Albany, Rita Lenzmeier of Paynesville, Mary (and Ron) Sadlowsky of Avon, and brother Daniel (and Mary) Ludwig of Red Wing.
Lucy was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Fendell, her parents, a sister Margaret and her brothers Vincent, Francis, George and John.
Memorials are preferred to the Father Shae Endowment at St. Therese School or the Holy Redeemer Foundation.
