Lakers stay hot, beat RCW for 4th straight victory
The Lakeview baseball team extended its winning streak to four games with a 6-4 win over Renville County West Thursday in Cottonwood.
The Lakers overcame six errors to earn the victory. Of the four runs RCW scored, none were earned.
Seth Boerboom earned the win on the mound for the Lakers. He worked the first 6 1/3 innings, striking out eight batters, walking two and giving up five hits. Bayley Enstad got the final two outs for the save.
Derek Larsen led the Laker offense with a triple, an RBI and two runs scored. Travis Varpness added a double and two RBIs, and Enstad had a double and knocked in a run.
Lakeview (4-5 overall) continues Camden Conference play Monday with a game against Minneota/Lincoln HI in Minneota.

Dawson-Boyd 8, Minneota 3
The Dawson-Boyd baseball team broke into the win column on Thursday, defeating Minneota 8-3 in Camden Conference action in Minneota.
Daniel Baldwin pitched the win for the Blackjacks (1-8 overall, 1-8 Camden) striking out eight. Cody Wagner was 3-for-4 with a double while Justin Lee was 2-for-4 in the win.
Jordan Beck took the loss for the Vikings (3-7 overall, 3-6 Camden) while going 2-for-4 at the plate. Austin Buysse was also 2-for-3 in the loss.
Dawson-Boyd will be in action again today when they travel to Madison to face Lac qui Parle Valley while Minneota will play host to Lakeview and Mountain Lake Area on Monday.

The Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove baseball team got back to .500 on Thursday, defeating Mountain Lake Area 7-2 in Red Rock Conference play in Sanborn.
The Falcons were led by Austin Price, who was 2-for-4, while Tyler Schoborg had a triple and 2 RBI. Henry Rogotzke added a double while Mitchell Jarmer was credited with the win, coming in to pitch in the fourth inning.
RRC/WWG (6-6 overall, 6-4 Red Rock) will face Tracy-Milroy-Balaton and Wabasso in Milroy today starting at 4:30 p.m.

Canby 9, KMS 3
The Canby baseball team overcame five errors and earned a 9-3 win over Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg Thursday in a Camden Conference game in Canby.
A pair of big innings helped propel the Lancers (5-4 overall) to the win, as they scored four in the third and four more in the sixth.
Canby scored its nine runs on just six hits. McKinley Johansen had a double and two RBIs to lead the Lancers at the plate.
Matt Gallegos earned the win on the mound. He struck out seven batters, walked two and allowed just five hits in seven innings. None of KMS’s three runs were earned.
The Lancers resume play Saturday when they host a four-team wood bat tournament. Canby starts the day off with a game against Browerville at 10 a.m.

Lakeview, M/C/L split Camden doubleheader
On the eve of the 2013 postseason, the Lakeview Lakers and Minneota/Canby/Lincoln HI Vikings split a Camden Conference doubleheader in Cottonwood on Thursday. Anissa Peppersack tossed a one-hitter for the Lakers during a 4-3 win in the opener, while Ricki Kallhoff drove in a pair of runs to lead M/C/L to a 6-3 victory in the nightcap.
Peppersack helped her own cause in Game 1, going 2-for-2 with a double. She walked three and struck out one in her complete game victory. Shay Buysse had the lone hit for the Vikings in the game, driving in two-runs on the single.
In Game 2, the Vikings stole six bases to help score six runs off of Lakeview starter Sadie Stelter. Stelter took the loss, pitching just four innings and allowing six runs. Abby Lee scored twice for Lakeview and roped a double off of Viking starter Kelsea Tolk.
Lakeview (5-11 overall) hosts Russell-Tyler-Ruthton in Cottonwood today for the first round of the Section 3A tournament. The winner moves on to face Tracy-Milroy-Balaton in Tracy on Monday.
M/C/L (8-4) closes out its regular season on Saturday with a home game against Lac qui Parle Valley. The Vikings travel to Montevideo on Monday to open the Section 3AA tournament against No. 4 seed Redwood Valley.

Panthers recover with sweep of Wildcats
Tracy-Milroy-Balaton bounced back from a Tuesday night loss to Marshall with a pair of non-conference wins over Southwestern United Thursday in Okabena. TMB won the opener 7-1 and escaped for an 8-7 win in Game 2.
Jenny Welu pitched a gem for the Panthers in the first game, giving up just one run and one hit with no walks. She also had a triple at the plate, one of four TMB hits in the game.
Junior Kylie Lessman got her first career start for TMB in the second game and went the first four innings before being replaced by Welu in the fifth. The Panthers and Wildcats were tied at 7 in the bottom of the fifth before Galiya Bitton came through with a walk-off RBI double. It was one of two doubles she had in the game.
TMB (14-4 overall) closes out a busy week today with a doubleheader at unbeaten Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg.

Lakeview girls, WWG boys earn wins in dual
The Lakeview girls’ golf team and the Westbrook-Walnut Grove boys’ came away with dual wins on Thursday in Westbrook.
Whitney Fischer led the way for the Lakers with a 51 while Mikkena Radke shot a 54, Haley Penske added a 57 and Briatta Buntjer rounded out the top four with a 61.
The Charger’s Avoree Bakken was medalist with a 50. Paige Erickson (55), Abby Herding (58) and Mariah Olson completed the WWG scores.
On the boys side WWG finished with a 165 led by medalist Taylor Lindaman’s 38. Dana Madson and Reed Bakken were right behind with a 40 and 41 respectively and Walker Christians added a 46.
Quinn Fenger paced the Lakers with a 46. Taylor Pickthorn shot a 47 while Zach Werner and Jake Werner each shot a 49.

Canby golfers drop dual to LQPV
The Canby boys’ and girls’ golf teams fell to Lac qui Parle Valley in Canby on Thursday in a recently-added dual meet.
The Lancer boys shot a 179, putting them four strokes behind the Eagles.
Jesse Lokken led the way with a 41. Vasu Potla shot a 44, while Landon Anderson and Dylan Smith shot 46 and 48 respectively. LQPVs Riley Sigdahl led all golfers with a 38.
On the girls side, Canby had the three lowest scores of the day, but were unable to field a complete team. LQPV shot a 249.
Natalie Morris shot a 43 to lead all golfers while Kristy Schmidt and Taylor Gorder added scores of 48 and 52 respectively.

The Wabasso girls’ golf team shot a 200 on Thursday to defeat Sleepy Eye Saint Mary’s by 26 strokes while the boys’ team fell, shooting a 209.
Briana Jenniges led the way for the Rabbits with a 42, while Jenna Henriksen added a 51. Brooke Maasch (53) and Kendra Haase (54) rounded out the top four.
Shawn Zollner paced Wabasso with a 47 while Chase Haase and Kyle Campbell shot 52 and 53 respectively. Garret Sagedahl shot a 57 to give the Rabbits a 209.
