Wieneke’s grand slam helps Hadley past Minneota

A grand slam by Nate Wieneke sparked a five-run fifth inning for the Hadley Buttermakers in an 8-2 win over the Minneota Mudhens Monday in amateur baseball action in Hadley.

The Buttermakers had 14 hits in the game, with five players recording a multi-hit game. Hadley pitchers Zach Bruns and Chris Halbur held the Mudhens to just four hits in the game.

Eric Wieneke, Max Zwart, Nick Bruning and Joe Larson each joined Nate Wieneke with two hits in the game.

Jason MacKinnon had half of Minneota’s hits, going 2-for-2 with a run scored.

The Buttermakers (3-2 overall) play against the Worthington Cubs at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Worthington.

Minneota also played a game Friday against the Pipestone A’s, falling 9-4 on the Mudhens’ home field. The Mudhens scored all their runs in the sixth inning. Minneota starting pitcher Matt Musser took the loss, giving up seven runs (five earned) on eight hits with five strikeouts and three walks.
