Hadley 2, Worthington 1

Hadley’s Sam Erickson and Justin Reinsma combined to hold Worthington to just one run on four hits in a 2-1 Buttermakers win over the Cubs Wednesday in Worthington.

Erickson threw the first 8 1/3 innings and allowed just one earned run on four hits. He struck out eight batters. Reinsma got the final two outs and recorded the save.

Hadley scored both of its runs in the seventh inning. Max Zwart’s two-RBI double was the key hit in the inning. The Buttermakers had just two hits in the game.

Hadley crosses the border into South Dakota Friday when the Buttermakers face the Sioux Falls Saints.

Milroy Yankees 5, Sacred Heart 1

A strong pitching performance from Josh Hadley in a 5-1 win over Sacred Heart helped the Milroy Yankees stay unbeaten on the season.

Hadley pitched 8 2/3 innings and struck out 13 batters. He held Sacred Heart scoreless for the first eight innings. Hadley gave up six hits and one walk.

Sacred Heart managed to load the bases in the top of the ninth and Austin Deutz came on with two outs to record the final out of the game and earn the save.

Brian Dolan led the Yankees at the plate, tallying three of the team’s eight hits. Dean Zwach went 2-for-5, and Hadley was 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

At 4-0 overall and 3-0 in the Corn Belt League, Milroy will try to remain unbeaten when it heads to Marshall Friday to take on the A’s.

Johnny Pistulka struck out 12 batters in six innings, leading the Lamberton Long Sox to a 10-2 win over the Searles Grizzlies in an amateur baseball game Wednesday in Lamberton.

Landon Erickson led the Long Sox at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Colby Pack went 2-for-4, while Donald Strand was 2-for-4 with a double, two steals and two runs scored.

The Long Sox (3-2 overall) play at home Friday against Sleepy Eye.
