Lifewall opens its doors to help photographers

MARSHALL – Lifewall, a large format printer in Marshall which specializes in custom wall murals and canvas prints, is ready to share its business concept and the toys that go with it.

“We’re offering a franchising opportunity geared toward photographers hoping to expand their businesses to provide a range of unique print products,” said Alex MacArthur, the chief marketing officer.

MacArthur said Lifewall, which has five employees and has operated out of its West College Drive headquarters for about a year now, has been doing well.

“Business has picked up,” he said. “We’ve had really good local feedback.”

The company began as an online company at, featuring a software program that allows people to create wall murals and canvas prints using their own photos.

MacArthur said the company has been doing a lot of local work with businesses and individuals, offering products including perforated window displays and peel and stick cutouts. They are willing to share their expertise which is the result of experience and research in the field.

MacArthur said many photographers “don’t really have control over their own prints. It’s been taken over by large printers. We’re targeting photographers, but not exclusively.”

The package includes a Mutoh large format printer, initial stock of ink and media, computer system, design software package, including Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator and print and design software.

“The printer is a high-end brand and is top-of-the line for large formats,” said Jacob Hart, chief operating officer and head of production.

Additionally, Lifewall plans to allow franchisees to draw business directly from For each online order from an owner’s territory, Lifewall will ask for 10 percent, with all the rest remaining with the franchisee. The two are currently working on search engine optimization which will make the website more visible.

In addition, the franchisee gets ongoing support, MacArthur said.

“We’ll set it up, teach how to use everything and do marketing and tech support,” he said.
