HENDRICKS – Services for Elmer Nelson, 91, of Hendricks will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Christ Lutheran Church in Hendricks. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in East Hendricks Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by Bakken Engen American Legion Post 103.
He died Friday, June 7, 2013, at the Hendricks Community Hospital.
He was born Nov. 12, 1921, the son of Arthur and Hilda (Heggeseth) Nelson in Minneota. He graduated from Minneota High School and entered the U.S. Army and served in World War II, European Theater, in the infantry and as a paratrooper. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to farming in rural Hendricks.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice; two daughters, Carol Kreager and Sandra Kimmet; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; two step-grandchildren; and two step-great grandsons.
