Orange overpowers Granite Falls 16-8
Using a six-run second inning to get out to an early lead, the Marshall Orange VFW baseball team doubled up Granite Falls in a16-8 win Thursday at Legion Field.
Thomas Fischer had three of Marshall’s 13 hits in the game. Teammate Blaise Andries went 2-for-3 with a double.
Jacob Deines got the start for Orange and went four innings to earn the win. Granite Falls had a five-run fifth inning, but it wasn’t nearly enough to overcome the large deficit.
Marshall Orange improves to 2-2 on the season with the win and returns to the field Monday for a road game against Worthington.

Pipestone earns walk-off win over Marshall Blue
A bases-loaded walk gave the Pipestone VFW team a 7-6 walk-off win over Marshall Blue Thursday in Pipestone.
Marshall held a 6-3 lead through the top of the sixth before giving up three runs in the bottom of the sixth and one run in the seventh.
Aaron Polejewski got the start for Blue and went the distance. He struck out three batters, walked five and gave up 10 hits. Of Pipestone’s seven runs, four were earned. Marshall committed three errors in the game.
Pipestone starter Mario Sada held Marshall to six hits. Blue’s Jack Bock and Matt Thompson each had an RBI base hit, while Derek Rasmussen added a sacrifice fly.
Marshall Blue (5-3 overall) continues its busy schedule today as it opens play in the three-day US Bank Mid-Summer Classic wood bat tournament in Marshall. Blue will take on Watertown (S.D.) at 5 p.m. today at Legion Field.
