Erickson tosses no-hitter in Hadley doubleheader

Haldey’s Sam Erickson was on his game Sunday, tossing a no-hitter in a 9-0 seven-inning win over Heron Lake in the second game of a doubleheader in Hadley.

Erickson struck out three batters and walked three during his no-hit effort.

The Buttermakers gave him plenty of offense to work with, putting up 13 hits. They didn’t take long to get started, scoring three in the first inning.

Joe Larson had two doubles and four RBIs for Hadley. Max Zwart was 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs, while James Wajer was also 3-for-4.

In the first game of the doubleheader Hadley played host to Adrian and earned a 4-1 win, scoring all of its runs in the fifth inning.

Zach Bruns went the distance for Hadley, striking out six batters and giving up one run on eight hits with no walks.

Zwart was 2-for-3 with an RBI, as was Blake Joustra.

Hadley (9-4 overall) is back in action Wednesday in Luverne.

Isaac Dolan’s shutout effort lifts Irish over Cannon Falls

Stormy weather shortened the Milroy Irish’s stint at the Miller High Life Tournament in Arlington over the weekend, but Milroy still managed to snag a win in its lone game on Saturday.

The Irish got a strong outing by Isaac Dolan, who worked all seven innings in a 1-0 win over Cannon Falls. Dolan struck out five batters and gave up five hits and two walks in his shutout performance.

Andy Otto went the distance for Cannon Falls, holding the Irish to one run on three hits.

Milroy’s lone run came in the sixth when Isaac Dolan had an RBI single to score Dominic Dolan.

The Irish (8-7 overall) return to action Wednesday in Tracy for a 6:15 p.m. game against the Express.

Pistulka helps Long Sox earn Sunday split

An RBI single in the top of the 10th inning by Johnny Pistulka helped the Lamberton Long Sox finish 1-1 Sunday in a pair road games.

Pistulka’s game-winning hit to drive in Donald Strand gave the Long Sox a 3-2 win over St. James. Pistulka also earned the win on the mound, coming on in relief for Jacob Jenniges in the eighth inning and striking out seven batters. Pistulka finished with two hits in the game.

Lamberton dropped a 6-2 contest in Springfield to open the day. Springfield got off to a fast start, scoring five runs in the bottom of the first to take control early.

Strand and Mike Wotschke each had two hits for Lamberton in the loss.

The Long Sox (9-5 overall, 8-2 Tomahawk East League) host the Leavenworth Orioles Wednesday in Lamberton.
