Marshall Blue 18, Tracy 3
After plating 16 runs over the first three innings, the Marshall VFW Blue baseball team coasted over the final two innings for an 18-3 win over Tracy in five innings Thursday night.
Seven Blue players recorded multiple-hit games, as Marshall pounded out 16 hits during the game in Tracy. Brad Bahlmann led the way, finishing 3-for-5 with a triple. Brent Andries and Noah Winkelman each went 2-for-3 with a 2B for Blue, while Nate Hoeft and Conner Winkelman were 2-for-4. Conner Winkelman added a triple. Derek Rasmussen, who pitched the first two innings for Blue and recorded the win, had a 2-for-2 night at the plate.
Tayler Carlson, who no-hit Marshall VFW Orange to start the summer, struggled in his start on Thursday and failed to record an out. He took the loss, but was relieved by Austin Gleis. Gleis pitched two innings before giving way to Riley Steffes who finished off the game for Tracy.
Marshall Blue improves to 12-7 with the win and will look to avenge a pair of one-run losses to Sioux Falls (S.D.) West, as the two teams meet tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Legion Field during the Marshall VFW tournament.

Pipestone 16, Orange 3
Seven errors sunk the Marshall VFW Orange baseball team in an ugly 16-3 loss in five innings to Pipestone on Thursday in Pipestone.
Orange trailed 9-0 after two innings before breaking onto the scoreboard with a run in the top of the third. Pipestone tacked on seven unanswered runs, however, to blow the game open.
Orange went through four pitchers during the game, with reliever John Botsford taking the loss. Mitchell Pauling started but lasted just 1/3 of an inning. Jacob Buysse and Shane Greenslit pitched the final two innings for Orange.
Thomas Fischer had two of Orange’s five hits, including a double, in the loss.
Braden Bartman went all five innings while picking up the win for Pipestone, which had just eight hits of their own.
Marshall Orange falls to 2-8 for the summer and opens up play for the Marshall VFW tournament today at 4 p.m. against Worthington at Southwest Minnesota State University’s Alumni Field.

Tyler 9, Granite Falls 1
Levi Hurst fired a gem for Tyler VFW Thursday, striking out seven in a complete-game victory over Granite Falls. Hurst walked two and allowed three hits while giving up one run in a 9-1 win for Tyler in Tyler.
Tyler led 3-1 after three innings then erupted for four runs in the fifth inning off of Granite Falls starter Blake Lindstrom. In total Tyler racked up nine runs on nine hits, including 2-for-4 nights from Steve Snow and Brandon Verly. Verly also roped a triple.
Jordan Odegard had two of Granite Falls’ three hits, finishing the game 2-for-3.
Tyler improves to 5-4 on the season with the win and returns to action against Tracy on Monday in Tracy.

Cottonwood 6, Granite Falls 4
Cody St. Aubin and Brad Boerboom took turns driving in runs for the Cottonwood Legion baseball team during the seventh inning Thursday night at Granite Falls, with the RBIs proving the difference in a 6-4 win for Cottonwood.
Both St. Aubin and Boerboom finished the game 2-for-4 from the plate and piled up two-thirds of Cottonwood’s hits.
Bayley Enstad started for Cottonwood, taking a no-decision after allowing four runs over five innings with five walks. Wyatt Schuster tossed two scoreless innings of relief to pick up the win.
Joe Sannerud went the distance in defeat for Granite Falls, while Austin Vikander had the game’s only extra-base hit with a double.
Cottonwood (4-4 overall) returns to action on Saturday and Sunday at a tournament in Montevideo before returning home for a 6:30 p.m. game against Sacred Heart on Monday.
