Irish post perfect weekend at home
Solid pitching performances allowed the Milroy Irish to snag three wins in three games over the weekend as they capped off their regular season at home at Irish Yard.
The Irish kicked off the weekend with a 5-2 win over Minneota Saturday. Daniel Frank allowed just two hits in six innings of work, striking out two batters and walking three. He earned the win, while Clay Ellis pitched a scoreless seventh to get the save.
Dominic Dolan was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with a double, and Tyler Peterson was 2-for-4 with a double.
Minneota’s Jason MacKinnon was 1-for-3 with a double that drove in the Mudhens’ only two runs.
Milroy continued action Saturday with a 3-0 win against Heron Lake, with Tyler Peterson tossing a complete game shutout. He struck out seven batters, gave up three hits and hit one batter in the victory.
Milroy was held to five hits in the victory. Dolan and Tyler Alcorn each went 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Cody Mather kept the strong pitching performances going for Milroy on Sunday. He worked seven innings, allowing two runs in a 5-2 win over Luverne. He was around the strike zone the whole game, striking out just one batter but walking none. Ellis tossed the final three innings to earn his second save of the weekend.
Peterson finished the game 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Isaac Dolan was also 2-for-4, posting a double and an RBI.
The Irish begin the playoffs on the road, facing Martin County Wednesday in Truman.

Lamberton 4, St. James 3
The Lamberton Long Sox scored all of their runs in the sixth inning of a 4-3 victory over St. James Sunday in Lamberton.
Tyler Reiner had a game-tying RBI double for Lamberton in the sixth and was driven in by Blake Altermatt for the go-ahead run.
Colby Pack led Lamberton at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double.
Shane Schoborg got the win on the mound. He worked six innings and gave up six hits and two walks with three strikeouts. All of St. James’ runs came in the opening inning. Johnny Pistulka tossed the final three innings and earned the save.
The Long Sox (17-8 overall, 16-4 Tomahawk East League) resume play Friday at home game against Stark.

Jackson 9, Hadley 7
A three-run seventh inning propelled the Jackson Bulls to a 9-7 victory over the Hadley Buttermakers Sunday in Hadley.
Jackson got home runs from Zach Copley and Caleb Rossow, while Andy Wolf had a pair of doubles for the Bulls.
Hadley outhit Jackson 14-11. Trent Carlson led the way at the plate for the Buttermakers, going 3-for-4. Joe Larson, Zach Bruns and James Wajer each had two hits.
Hadley finishes the regular season with an 11-6 record in Gopher League play and is 16-12 overall. The Buttermakers will open the playoffs Wednesday, with the location and opponent for their game yet to be determined.
