An electric performance on the mound by Tony Shaikoski led Minneota to a 1-0 win over Jackson Friday night in Minneota, clinching a surprise sweep for the upset-minded Mudhens.

Shaikoski struck out the side in the ninth inning to put an exclamation mark at the end of the victory. The right-handed hurler struck out seven Bulls in the game and allowed eight hits and one walk.

Minneota is seeded seventh in the First Nite/Gopher League Tournament and now has a 7-20 overall record after knocking off the second-seeded Bulls. The Mudhens advance to the second round, with their opponent yet to be determined. Their next game will be Wednesday.

The lone run of the game was scored in the bottom of the second inning. Shaikoski singled to get on base and later scored on an RBI single by Tyson Sonnenburg.
