Teeing it up for Marshall hockey
Around 80 golfers gathered at Marshall Golf Club Friday afternoon to help raise money for Marshall youth hockey at the inaugural Marshall Hockey Golf Scramble.
All proceeds from the event will be divided between the Marshall Amateur Hockey Association and the Marshall High School hockey teams.
Marshall Tiger girls’ hockey team member Jessica Blanchard was a member of the winning group Friday along with her parents, Paul and Nancy Blanchard. The trio combined to shoot a 50 in the scramble.
Jessica Blanchard is a two-time state qualifier for golf, and her mother is the team’s coach. The two each won a flag price Friday, with Nancy Blanchard winning the longest drive prize on the second hole and Jessica Blanchard winning the same prize on the 18th hole.
The Blanchard’s team finished three strokes clear of the foursome of Scott Mauch, Scott Briffet, John Mauch and Don Lingen. Team Bladholm Construction, consisting of Kim Christensen, Jason Kruger, Brian Gruhot and Kevin Kurth, was third with a 57.
