MHS begins with soccer loss to St. Peter
Marshall was outshot 13-3 during a 5-0 non-conference loss at Saint Peter as the Tigers opened their soccer season Saturday.
Marshall trailed 1-0 three minutes into the match after the Saints’ Kaelin Weiss scored the first of his two goals off a pass from Tanner Nadeau.
The Tigers’ defense responded by not allowing a goal for the final 37 minutes of the first half, but Marshall had a 1-0 deficit at halftime.
Saint Peter broke the match open in the second half on unassisted goals from Weiss in the 46th minute, Matt Carlson in the 54th minute and Jacob Lamb in the 62nd minute. The Saints’ Joey More capped the scoring off a Matt Carlson pass with a goal in the 69th minute.
Saint Peter goalie Arick Mayo stopped all three Marshall shots as the Saints improved to 2-0-0 this season. Saint Peter began its season last Thursday, when it blanked Albert Lea 1-0.
Marshall goalie Paul Citrowske collected eight saves on 13 shots.
The Tigers (0-1-0) host Willmar at Southwest Minnesota State University on Tuesday.
