Prep Football Roundup: 3rdQ key for TMB

Three third-quarter touchdowns lifted Tracy-Milroy-Balaton to a Little Sioux Conference win over MACCRAY in the season-opener for both teams Thursday in Tracy.

Panthers running back Elijah Koenig broke into the end-zone on a pair of 2-yard dives for TMB, but it was senior captain Zach Seaton who started the scoring on a 36-yard dash with 11 minutes, 11 seconds remaining before halftime.

An errant snap on a punt attempt exited through the back of the end zone early in the third quarter put the Panthers up 23-0.

Quarterback Brett Swenhaugen put the Panthers up 30-0 with his first varsity touchdown, connecting with Josh Kirk on a 12-yard strike. Swenhaugen finished the night 11 of 18 for 124 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions.

Koenig led the Panthers with 70 yards rushing in the game, while the normally pass-happy TMB racked up 201 of their 325 total yards on the ground.

The Panthers’ defense held MACCRAY to 151 total yards and just 36 on the ground.
