Tom’s Auto Body wins Silver League title
Adult softball action in Marshall wrapped up for the summer on Thursday with the conclusion of the men’s Silver League tournament.
Tom’s Auto Body went 2-1 on the night, but still managed to take the league title. Tom’s opened the night with a 15-8 win over Hoganson Chiropractic, with a seven-run bottom of the sixth providing the difference. Tom’s, with a game to give on the field, then dropped its first game against the Gambler 19-7, scoring four runs in the final half inning, but only after a nine-run top of the seventh by the Gambler.
The eventual champions bounced back with a 15-11 come-from-behind win, erasing a 7-1 deficit in the final three innings.
Gambler, which finished second after losing to Tom’s, rolled on its way through the loser’s bracket with a 21-5 win to eliminate R&G Construction to start the night and a 20-8 toppling of Hoganson. R&G lasted just four innings, giving up 11 runs in the top of the fourth, while Hoganson extended its contest one more inning before bowing out.
