PREP SOCCER: Eagles fly past Tigers in second half

EDGERTON – Southwest Minnesota Christian scored three second-half goals for a 4-1 non-conference victory over Marshall on Thursday.

Megan Vogl scored the lone goal for the Tigers in the 13th minute. She re-directed a rebound inside the goalie box to tie the match 1-1.

In the third minute, the Eagles took a 1-0 lead on a goal from Nathan Pfeifle, put in a cross pass.

Southwest Minnesota Christian added three second-half goals in the 50th, 55th and 60th minutes.

“In the second half, we couldn’t get much started. Southwest Minnesota Christian’s attack was furious,” MHS?head coach Andy Larson said.

Marshall (0-4-0 overall) had a couple of solid scoring chances in the final 20 minutes.

The Tigers’ Sebastian Landry sent a hard shot from just inside 18 yards that was saved by the Eagles’ goalie in the 60th minute. About 20 minutes later, Sam Duran got past the Southwest Minnesota Chistian goalie, but his shot miss the net wide to the right.

Marshall plays Fairmont as its first opponent at the Albert Lea Invitational on Saturday.
