HURLEY, Wis. – Services for Paul Forys, 82, formerly of Buffalo, Minn., will take place at 3 p.m. Sunday at Bonshell Cafe in Hurley, Wis., and from 4-7 p.m. Monday at American Legion Post 270 in Buffalo.
He passed away Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, surrounded by his family at his home in Hurley.
Paul was born on June 27, 1931, in Lake Stay Township, Lincoln County, to Albert and Elisabeth (Gorecki) Forys.
Paul married Elaine Funk on Jan. 3, 1959, in Canby. Together they had two sons: Douglas, of Minnesota, and Steven (Eva), of California; and two daughters, Robin (and Bill Salonek) of Wisconsin and Kim (and Warren Schulz) of Minnesota. Paul has one granddaughter, Raven.
Paul worked throughout his life primarily as a truck driver and retired as a school bus driver for District 877. He was a life-long participant and fan of sports, and especially loved following the local sports teams.
From March 1951 to March 1955 Paul served in the Air Force and was stationed in Japan during the Korean war. He held memberships in the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Forty and Eight, and the Disabled American Veterans organizations. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine, in July 2011.
He will be buried with Elaine at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on Tuesday.
