March 24, 1933-Sept. 20, 2013

KILLEEN, Texas – Mass of Christian Burial for Roy Arthur Chlub of Killeen, Texas, and formerly of Marshall are at 10 a.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Killeen. Burial is in the Killen City Cemetery. Arrangements are with Harper-Talasek Funeral Homes.

Roy died Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born March 24, 1933, on the family farm in Lincoln County located in southwest Minnesota. It was here that he grew up and learned the values of a good Christian Life. On June 5, 1956, he married his life long friend Bernice Citterman in St. John Cantius Church, Wilno. The couple remained farming for several years before moving to Marshall. While living in Marshall, Roy was employed at Schwan’s.

Roy enjoyed playing cards with family and friends; luck was always on his side. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time with his daughters as they were growing up. Spending time with his parents was very important.

The couple retired in 2005 and moved to Killeen to enjoy the warmer weather and be close to their daughter, Nancy. Roy thoroughly enjoyed Texas, the friendly people, activities at the senior center and the relaxed living at the Veranda.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Bernice of 57 years; two daughters Barb Greene of Vandalia, Ohio, and Nancy Nelson and Tom Taijeron of Kempner; grandchildren, Becky (Kyle) Lauterhahn, Robert Greene, Daniel Greene, Ryan Greene, Courtney Greene; and sister Beatrice (Chlub) Weverka.

He is preceded in death by his parents Michael and Cecelia (Popowski) Chlub, sisters Alice (Chlub) Shelak and Alma (Chlub) Kirkpatrick.

He will always be remembered for his ability to make people laugh in any situation.
