Johnson joins Office of Admission

Laura Johnson, a 2013 SMSU alumna, has joined the Office of Admission at Southwest Minnesota State University as a counselor.

Johnson’s recruiting territory includes northern Minnesota and Iowa.

Johnson is from Maple Lake and graduated with a degree in speech communications: public relations and minors in marketing and advertising design communications.

While attending SMSU, Johnson was a student worker in the Office of Admission and was also an admission ambassador and orientation leader. She worked in the Southwest Marketing Advisory Center and was active in Enactus (formerly known as SIFE), Mustang Maniacs, Students Today Alumni Tomorrow, Mustang Mentors and The Spur.

“The experiences I had as an undergraduate at SMSU have been a huge influence on the person that I am today,” she said. “I am thrilled to be working in the Office of Admission to be able to share my experiences and all that SMSU has to offer with others.”

She is the daughter of Randy and Irene Johnson of Maple Lake.
