PREP FOOTBALL ROUNDUP: Little Sioux clash goes to Vikings, 27-6

MINNEOTA – In a clash of Little Sioux Conference unbeatens, the Dawson-Boyd football team struck first, but Minneota/Lincoln HI responded with 27 unanswered points to claim a big 27-6 win on Friday night.

Dalton Palmer scored the Blackjacks’ lone touchdown on a two-yard run in the first quarter, but the final three quarters belonged to the Vikings. In the second, Austin Buysse connected with Nicholas Esping for a 63-yard touchdown pass and Diego Meza added the extra point.

In the third, Nathan Pavek busted out a 72-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Jeff Gladis went 1 yard for a touchdown to go with a Meza kick, and Jordan Beck caught a 30-yard pass from Buysse for the final touchdown.

Minneota/Lincoln HI (5-0, 5-0) will travel to Tracy on Friday to face TMB, while Dawson-Boyd (4-1, 4-1) will play host to Canby.

WABASSO – Neil Eichten threw for 310 yards and a touchdown and TJ Fulton caught six passes for 140 yards as the Wabasso Rabbits ran away from Red Rock Central 34-8 in a Southern Minnesota Conference tilt on Friday.

Tanner Bock racked up 97 yards on the ground for the Rabbits.

With the win, the Rabbits improve to 4-0 in the conference. The Falcons are 0-4.

MAYNARD – The Murray County Central Rebels had a chance to tie the game with 57 seconds remaining, but came up short, falling to MACCRAY, 22-20, Friday in Maynard.

With just under a minute left, Rebel quarterback Seth Bass found Kyle Schreier in the end zone from 3 yards out. But on a run attempt that would have knotted the score, Bass was unable to convert the two-point play.

Bass was 14-for-20 passing for 156 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. He also ran for 17 yards on nine carries. Mitch Reinsma caught two passes for 46 yards, while Logan Kluis came up with three passes for 28 yards.

Nick Petersen led the MCC defense, recording 14 tackles, including three tackles for a loss. Petersen also had one interception for 43 yards. Tyler Scotting collected eight tackles, including two for a loss, while Derek Clarke also had eight tackles.

The Rebels (2-3, 2-3 Little Sioux) continue action Friday at home against Adrian.

TRACY – Tracy-Milroy-Balaton recorded 306 yards of offense and shut out the Canby Lancers in a Little Sioux Conference matchup Friday night in Tracy.

Behind a 1-yard run by Brett Swenhaugen and a touchdown pass from Swenhaugen to Zach Seaton, the Panthers (4-1, 4-1 Little Sioux) put up 12 points in the second quarter and cruised to a 32-0 win.

Elijah Koenig and Rickie Jorgenson each found the end zone from 2 yards out in the third quarter and Swenhaugen found Josh Kirk for a 45-yard touchdown pass to close out the night. Swenhaugen finished the game with 110 yards passing, while Koenig rushed for 128 yards on 18 carries.

For the Lancers, Matt Sisk threw for 83 yards, while Brock Nothem rushed three times for 72 yards.

On Friday, Canby (1-4, 1-4 Little Sioux) travels to take on Dawson-Boyd, while TMB will host Minneota/Lincoln HI.

GRANITE FALLS – The Yellow Medicine East football team held two leads against Paynesville Area on Friday night, but fell to the seventh-ranked Bulldogs 52-19 in West Central conference play on Friday.

Austin Vikander scored all three Sting touchdowns, going in from 2 and 3 yards out in the first half before breaking off a 59-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

TYLER – Jordan Dingmann rushed for 129 yards and four touchdowns, leading Adrian to a 37-0 win over Russell-Tyler-Ruthton on Friday.

Dingmann scored twice in the first quarter, then rumbled in from 38 yards out to five the Dragons a 31-0 lead in the third. He later added a 1-yard scoring run.

Ty Thooft rushed for 100 yards on 18 carries for the Knights (0-5), who travel to play Lac qui Parle Valley next week.

Adrian improves to 5-0 and is tied with Dawson-Boyd for first place in the Little Sioux.

WESTBROOK – The Mountain Lake Area Wolverines rushed for 285 yards on 37 carries, overpowering Westbrook-Walnut Grove in a Southern Confederacy Conference West matchup Friday night in Westbrook.

Behind strong performances from Carter Kirk and Andrew Hempeck, the Wolverines moved to 5-0 with the 67-6 victory. Kirk was 7-for-11 passing for 114 yards.

The Chargers (2-3 SCC) got on the board in the third quarter on a 54-yard pass to Sean McCroskey from Shane Buchman. McCroskey finished with two catches for 61 yards, while Buchman was 4-for-9 passing for 66 yards. Levi Buntin, Tyler Schoborg and Logan Weis had 13 tackles apieces. Bunting also contributed a sack, while Weis had a fumble recovery.

WWG is at Renville County West on Friday.
