PREP FOOTBALL WEEK 6 PREVIEW: A snapshot of this week’s other area matchups



For the second straight week, the Wabasso Rabbits will face off against a state-ranked opponent. Class A No. 5-ranked Wabasso defeated class 2A ninth-ranked Martin County West 22-14 last week and will take on Class A No. 2-ranked Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s. Both Southern Minnesota Conference teams are undefeated.

The Rabbits have the area’s third-leading passer in Neil Eichten, who has 975 passing yards, 10 touchdowns and five interceptions, and the area’s third-leading rusher in Tanner Bock, who has 621 yards and five touchdowns on on 113 carries. TJ Fulton is second in the area in receptions, recording 536 yards and seven touchdowns. Fulton also has 249 yards and four touchdowns on the ground for Wabasso.


Jordan Schroepfer is the best defender in the Independent’s coverage area after compiling 70.5 tackles. He also leads the Falcons in rushing with 435 yards and two touchdowns. … RRC has used two quarterbacks this season with freshman Taylor Bunting tossing two TD passes and picking up 221 yards, while junior Thomas Blomgren has thrown for 51 yards and one touchdown. … Blomgren has also caught nine passes, while Schroepfer has made 11 receptions and hauled in a touchdown. … Blomgren and Derek Christians also add 36.0 tackles apiece.



Levi Bunting leads the Independent’s coverage area with 10 sacks for the season and is one of three Chargers to lead the way defensively. Logan Weis has 59 tackles, while Tyler Schoborg had 53 and Bunting 50. Tristan Joel has hauled in four interceptions, second-best in the area. On the offensive side of the ball, there is Sean McCroskey, who leads the area in receiving with 25 catches for 445 yards and two touchdowns, while Bunting is WWG’s second-leading receiver with 138 yards and two touchdowns on 11 receptions. Matt Otto has 379 yards rushing with two touchdowns on 78 carries, while Joel has 225 yards with four touchdowns on 25 attempts. Mitchell Jarmer adds 175 yards rushing with three strikes. Joel also leads the aerial attack for the Chargers, going 38-for-71 with 503 passing yards, three touchdowns and four interceptions.



Austin Vikander is the fourth-best rusher in the Marshall area, leading the Sting with 604 yards and four touchdowns on 94 carries. Landon Evans adds 226 yards on 52 attempts. YME’s top receiver is Chase Richter, who has earned 190 yards and one touchdown on nine catches, for an average of 21.0, followed by Tyson Velde (125 yards on 8 carries). Blake Lindstrom leads the Sting through the air, collecting 395 yards of offense. Defensively, Velde is tied for second in the area with six sacks.
