ELK POINT, S.D. – Services for Lawrence “Pete” Petersen, 74, of Elk Point, S.D., will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at United Paris. A visitation will be one hour prior to the start of the service. Services have been entrusted to the Kober Funeral Home of Elk Point.
He died Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, at Sanford USD Medical Center of Sioux Falls
Pete was born Feb. 16, 1939, in Salix, Iowa, to Louis and Eileen (Thorp) Petersen.
On June 24, 1961, Pete married the love of his life, Janice Mahoney, and the two remained happily married until his passing.
Pete was a born farmer who loved the harvest season. When he wasn’t working out in the fields he loved to spend time with his family, camp, fish, and enjoyed seeing shows, especially in Gayville, S.D.
Pete is survived by his wife, Janice Petersen; his children, Deb (and Dave) Hoganson of Marshall, Laurie (and Doug) Palmer of Marshall, Steve (and Jodi) Petersen of Granite Falls and Amy Petersen of Marshall; his grandchildren Kate (and Andrew), Jessica (fiance Derrek), Heidi, Ryan, Corey, Ashley, Alyssa, and Cale; his step-grandchildren, Derrick, Aaron, and Grant; and his brother, Charles (and Joan) Petersen of Onowa, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Eileen (Thorp) Petersen; and his brother-in-law, Ronald Mahoney.
