MINNEOTA – Services for Verlyn Gillund, 83, of Minneota, formerly of Marshall, will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church of Marshall. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Rehkamp-Horvath Funeral Home in Marshall and from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will follow the service at the Marshall Cemetery.
Verlyn died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at the Minneota Manor in Minneota.
Verlyn Lorraine (Beadles) Gillund was born April 12, 1930, in Wessington, S.D., to Hilda and Harry Beadles. She grew up in Red Lake Falls and graduated from high school in 1948.
She met and then married Willis Gillund on Sept. 16, 1951, and moved to Marshall. The couple had two daughters. She remained in the area until going into a nursing home in September of 2007. Verlyn had a love for crocheting and knitting. She was involved with the VFW and the Eagles Club. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church for 62 years.
Verlyn is survived by her husband, Willis; two daughters, Cindy (and Mike) Koerner and Karen (and Keith) Christopherson; five grandchildren; one sister three brothers.
She is preceded in death by her parents, in-laws, sister, three brothers-in-law, sister-in-law; two nephews.
