PREP VOLLEYBALL: Reiss, Scott are league MVPs
The Camden Conference recently released its list of all-conference honorees for the 2013 volleyball season. Minneota and Tracy-Milroy-Balaton topped the South Division list with four players apiece, while Central Minnesota Christian School led the North Division with four players named.
Junior middle hitter Taylor Reiss, who led Minneota to a third-place finish Saturday in the Class A state competition, was named South Division MVP, while senior teammates Megan Larson (setter), Molly Hennen (outside hitter) and Shelby Corbin (outside hitter) were recognized as all-conference team members. Minneota coach Steph Hennen was named South coach of the year.
TMB’s Kassidy Przymus (outside hitter), Anna Peterson (libero), Jessie Nelson (middle hitter) and Sammie Gervais (middle hitter) were also named to the All-Camden team, as where Russell-Tyler-Ruthton’s Janel Wichern (outside hitter) and Destinee Strand (setter).
Other All-Camden honorees from the South include: Lakeview’s Brianna Hoffman (middle hitter) and Canby’s Alayna Pederson (middle hitter).
In the North, CMCS’ Lexi Scott, a junior middle hitter, was named MVP, while Terrin DeBoer was named coach of the year. Nicole Brouwer (setter), Mary Covert (outside hitter) and Erin Orred (right side) were also named to the all-conference team.
Justine Flattum and Kylie Schuelke received All-Camden nods for Dawson-Boyd, as did Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg’s Alison Krieger (libero) and Lac qui Parle Valley’s Sydney Wittenbel (setter).
MACCRAY had two players named to the all-conference team, with Brooke Gould (outside hitter) and Aleah Schwitters (setter). Sadie Treml (setter) and Morgan Zaske (outside hitter) were also named to the list for Renville County West.
