MINNEOTA – Services for Odilo Van Deelen, 82, of Minneota will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Bergen Lutheran Church in rural Clarkfield. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Rehkamp-Horvath Funeral Home in Minneota and will continue from noon-1 p.m. Wednesday at Bergen Lutheran Church. Burial will be Friday at Bergen Lutheran Cemetery in Rural Clarkfield.
Odilo died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at the Minneota Manor in Minneota.
Odilo Nick Van Deelen was born March 7, 1931, in Burton Township, Yellow Medicine County, to John and Rose (Homan) Van Deelen. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school. In 1954, Odilo was united in marriage to Lona Amundson in Montevideo. The couple farmed their whole lives north of Minneota. They had livestock, milked cows and fed pigs. Odilo was passionate about farming and was an animal lover. He had many pets including several dogs and cats.
Survivors include his wife, Lona, of Minneota; granddaughter Tessa (and Randall) Kissick of Oklahoma City, Okla.; good friends Dennis and Linda Broughton ;and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Rosemary Josephson, and sister Vivian Senden.
