Next round of snow could leave mark locally
An updated forecast from the National Weather Service for southwest Minnesota calls for a winter weather advisory until midnight Wednesday for Cottonwood, Lincoln, Lyon and Murray counties. The first round of snow fell far north of the region Monday – more than a foot of snow accumulated in Duluth and Two Harbors with another 1 to 3 inches expected. Snow totals could exceed 20 inches from Grand Rapids to Duluth. Here, depending on when precipitation turns to all snow, some areas could see between 1 to 3 inches before the system moves out of the area late Wednesday. Winds will pick up early Wednesday as well, meaning limited visibility. Temperatures are expected to plunge Wednesday night with highs struggling to get out of single digits for the rest of the week.
