Marshall woman killed in Thursday night crash
A Marshall woman was killed in a head-on crash at 8:55 p.m. Thursday, the Minnesota State Patrol said.
Debra Griebel, 60, of Marshall was killed when her 2001 Chevy Malibu collided with a jack-knifed semi on an icy Minnesota Highway 23, just north of Minnesota Highway 7 near Clara City, State Patrol said.
Griebel was driving southbound of Highway 23 when she collided with a 2014 Volvo tractor-trailer driven by YaYa Zongo, 39, of Dallas, Texas. Zongo had lost control of the semi and jack-knifed before the collision, State Patrol said.
Zongo suffered no apparent injuries, State Patrol said.
State Patrol said it was unclear if Griebel was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash.
The Chippewa County Medical Center Ambulance, Rice Aircare, Willmar Ambulance and Clara City Fire assisted the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office and Clara City Police at the scene.
