GYMNASTICS: Tigers begin year with loss

BENSON – The Marshall gymnastics team opened the season with a 118.8-102.5 loss to Benson.

“We were happy with their performance tonight,” said Marshall head coach Heather Buysse. “They were well prepared.”

Meg Ellis recorded a first place finish for the Tigers in the Vault, finishing with an 8.7 score. Nicole Deragisch came in fifth with an 8.2. Ellis also finished fourth in the floor.

“Meg had a nice finish in the vault,” Buysse said.

Natalie Rademacher placed third in bars and fourth in the beam while Kami Love took fifth in the beam.

Rademacher and Ellis finished fourth and fifth respectively in the all around with scores of 27.4 and 25.55.

“We saw some good things tonight,” said Buysse. “They worked hard going into this meet.”
