GIRLS HOCKEY: Archbold, Peterson power Tigers to win over Eagles

MARSHALL – The Marshall girls hockey team defeated Windom Area in a 9-0 blowout Tuesday night.

Lizzie Archbold led the Tigers with a hat trick, all of which came in the second period. The first came at 16:05 with an assist from Hanna Peterson and Teegan Wyffels. Archbold was assited by Peterson again at 11:44, scoring for the second time. With just 1:04 left on the clock, Archbold completed her hat trick with her third goal assisted by Peterson and Wyffels.

Marshall opened the first period with a quick goal from Miranda Fischer assisted by Megan Vogl, establishing momentum MHS. With two more goals from Tessa Coudron and Vogl, the Tigers secured an early 3-0 lead going into the second.

Archbold’s hat trick, along with a goal from Wyfells, pushed Marshall to a 7-0 lead in the second period.

The Tigers didn’t let their comfortable lead slow them down in the third period, when Wyfells and Jessica Blanchard each added a goal.

Marshall had five other players with goals in the victory with 43 shots on goal against the Eagles.

Sierra Wagner helped close out Windom Area with eight saves.

Peterson led the Tigers with with four assists.

The Tigers will be back in action Tuesday when they host Luverne.
