NCAA WRESTLING: SMSU rallies past St. John’s
COLLEGEVILLE – Jacob Begin took his fourth straight win with a pin of David Rademacher at 5:21 in the 174-pound bout to lead Southwest Minnesota State to a 22-13 dual victory over Saint John’s on Friday night.
The Mustangs took six of the 10 matches to take the decision.
SMSU began the match with a 6-0 lead as Anotonio Meikel and Justin Reinsma took straight decisions for the Mustangs.
SJU answered by taking the next three bouts to take a 7-6 lead as No. 5 Ben Henle got a 12-4 major decision over Ethan Hildebrandt.
SMSU closed out the match by taking four of the final five bouts as Kyle Begin (165), Jacob Begin (174), Andrew Rodas (184), and Cole Wilson (285) earned victories. Kyle Begin and Wilson had decisions, while Rodas won by major and Jacob Begin won by fall.
SMSU wrestlers began competition this morning at the St. Cloud Open in St. Cloud.
