PREP WRESTLING ROUNDUP: Marshall/Lakeview falls after Redwood Valley rally

REDWOOD FALLS – Redwood Valley/Cedar Mountain rallied from a 24-0 deficit to defeat Marshall/Lakeview 51-30 during a Southwest Conference dual Tuesday.

The Tigers collected three pins from Dylan Dulas (106 pounds), Toby Semler (113) and Nick Erbes (126), while Hussein Osman (120) won by forfeit as Marshall/Lakeview scored the first 24 points of the dual.

“Our first four wrestlers went to the mat and just lit it up. They were on fire,” Tigers head coach Justin Bouwman said. “After giving up a pin at 132, we stayed aggressive, but came up a little short.”

After that, Matt Facile pinned his way to a win for the Tigers to complete Marshall/Lakeview’s scoring.

“We were missing a few guys from our lineup. So, Colin Noriega and Sam Prorock were inserted and they wrestled very well. It was their first varsity experience and they did a nice job for us,” Bouwmann said.

Noriega (152) and Prorock (170), making their first varsity starts, wrestled well during two close losses. Noriega fell in a 10-8 decision and Prorock dropped a narrow 3-2 decision.

The Tigers (2-8 overall, 0-1 Southwest) had to forfeit three of the remaining seven weight classes.

Marshall/Lakeview competes in the Redwood Valley/Cedar Mountain Invitational on Friday and Saturday in Lamberton.

The Cardinals improved to 2-2 overall and 1-0 versus the Southwest Conference this season.
