MUSTANG HOOFPRINTS: Indoor track and field team begins season on Saturday

Hello Mustang Fans!

Southwest Minnesota State University will be back in session Monday, when the spring semester begins.

It is a busy time of the year for all our in- and off-season sports because they all will be utilizing our indoor facilities for workouts.

Our spring student-athletes will be joining the winter student-athletes as they start training for their season. All this activity begins Monday and continues through the end of the spring semester.

Indoor Track and Field

This weekend, the Mustang indoor track and field program will participate in their first NCAA Division II competition when they head to Minnesota State University for the Minnesota State Alumni Open at 11 a.m. Saturday at 11:00 a.m.

We wish Coach Nate Wolf, the coaching staff and our student-athletes the best of luck this weekend.

Gold Rush Raffle

We are just a little over a month away from the Gold Rush Raffle, which will be held Feb. 14 in the Conference Center Ballroom.

Last year, the Gold Rush Raffle raised a little more than $53,000. This year, the committee has set a goal of raising more than $75,000 with all proceeds going to aid the Mustang Booster Club’s effort to support SMSU athletic scholarships.

The Mustang Booster Club contributed $100,000 to athletic scholarships in 2012-13.

The SMSU Department of Athletics and the Mustang Booster Club look forward to hosting the mid-winter social event everyone looks forward to attending.

Trivia Contest

We did not have a correct response to last week’s Mustang Hoofprint’s Trivia Question: What was the first athletic competition held in the Recreation Athletic (R/A) Facility at SMSU?

The first athletic event played in the R/A Facility was the SSU/Burger King Classic Volleyball Tournament played in mid-September 1996 as part of an NSIC crossover.

Trivia Question
