MINNEOTA – Services for Becky Esping, 64, of Minneota will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Hope Lutheran Church in Minneota. A gathering time to celebrate Becky’s life will be Sunday from 4-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the church and will continue one hour prior to the service Monday at the church. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
She died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Becky was born Oct. 4, 1949, in Philadelphia, Pa., to Wallace P. and Jeanette (Taylor) Davis. She grew up in Newark, Del., and graduated from Newark High School. Becky then attended nursing school in Wilmington. On April 14, 1979, she was united in marriage to Tom Esping at Hope Lutheran Church in Minneota. Becky worked as a nurse at Weiner Memorial Medical Center in Marshall for many years, then with Affiliated Community Medical Center and for the last five years, for the Minneota School District. Becky enjoyed crafts, sewing and feeding the neighborhood kids. She greatly enjoyed her job as a nurse for the school. Becky was most passionate about time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-nieces.
Becky is survived by her husband, Tom Esping of Minneota, sons Tony (and Tammy) of Minneota, David (and Amy) of Missouri; grandchildren Nicholas, Trent “TJ”, Jackson, Nolan and Carter; siblings Wayne (and Mona) Davis of Lincoln, Del., and Mark Davis of Salina, Kan.; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, mother-in-law Annie Esping and step-father Benjamin Rhoades.
