BALATON – Services for Robert Dayland, 71, of Balaton, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Almlie Funeral Home in Balaton. Visitation will be Sunday from noon until time of service at 2 p.m. Burial will be at a later date. A luncheon will be served immediately following the service in the Balaton Community Center.
He died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, at the Sanford-Tracy Medical Center in Tracy.
He was born April 24, 1942, to James and Gladys (Hively) Dayland in Tyler, Lincoln County. In April 1960, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He trained in the technical corp. as an engineer and was assigned to the 10th Engineer Battalion. He served overseas in Germany until his honorable discharge in April of 1963.
Survivors include his wife, Betty of Balaton; one son, Chris of Balaton; one daughter, Denise Gladis of Tracy; six grandchildren; one brother, Gordon of Peterson; one sister, Bonnie Dwire of Marshall.
