GIRLS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Rabbits hold off Tigers 67-65 for win

SPRINGFIELD – Wabasso was able to overcome a 36-29 halftime deficit, rallying to earn a 67-65 victory over Tomhawk Conference opponent Springfield Friday in Springfield.

With the win, Wabasso keeps its record unblemished at 10-0 overall and 6-0 in conference play.

Chelsey Guetter dropped 32 points in the victory, while Morgan Frank collected a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Guetter also contributed five steals and five assists for the Rabbits, while Kacie Rothmeier had five assists and four points.

RTR 46, RCW 43

RENVILLE – Russell-Tyler-Ruthton was victorious in a tough battle to the finish over Renville County West Friday night. Trailing by one at halftime, RTR was able to fight back and claim the 46-43 win.

Justine Possail sparked the Knights with 11 points and three assists. Sam Brust added nine points and six steals. Janel Wichern recorded six points, three steals and two assists in the victory.

The Jaguars were led by Sadie Treml with 14 points. Stephanie Wersal added ten rebounds, seven points and two assists.

The Knights travel to Ellsworth Monday to take on the Panthers.

Canby 54, KMS 37

KERKHOVEN – The Canby Lancers dominated Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg in its 54-37 victory on the road.

Leading scorer for the Lancers was Morgan Merritt with 18 points followed by Brandi Merritt with 12. Brandi Merritt also led the team with five assists. Ricki Kalloff added 12 rebounds, six points and four blocks in the victory. Natalie Dinius contributed 11 points and four steals.

YME 61, P’ville 42

GRANITE FALLS – Yellow Medicine East improves to 3-5 after defeating Paynesville Area Friday night.

Chyanne Sand’s 20 point, 22 rebound double-double led the way for the Sting’s attack. Sand also picked-up five steals. Hailey Enstad and Jordan Hinz hit double-digits on offense with 15 and 12 points, respectively.

Minneota 61,


CLARA CITY – Minneota dominated MACCRAY in a 61-27 victory to remain undefeated on the season.

Taylor Reiss led the Vikings with 23 points and seven rebounds. Shelby Corbin contributed all over the floor, recording nine points, eight steals and four assists.

Fulda 83, WWG 43

FULDA – Westbrook-Walnut Grove struggled to keep up with Fulda, falling 83-43 on the road.

Elizabeth Woelber scored 16 points to lead the Chargers. Emma Woelber contributed nine points and five assists. Dayna Comnick lead the team with eight steals and added five points in the effort.

Lincoln HI 43

MADISON – Lac qui Parle Valley hit 11 three-point shots en route to a 69-43 victory over Lincoln HI.

Alaysia Freetly dominated the floor, picking-up 22 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Kelsea Lund and Kaitlin Conner added 12 and 11 points, respectively. Conner also led the Eagles in rebounds with 10 and three blocked shots.

Aundrea Dufrane handed-out nine assists and grabbed five rounds.

Heidi Pavek led the Rebels with ten points and Morgan Citterman added nine. Maranda Jerzak added eight rebounds and Citterman had seven. Brandi Barke led the team with four steals.

LQPV will travel to Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta Monday and Lincoln HI hosts Edgerton.

TMB 54, CMCS 42

PRINSBURG – Tracy-Milroy-Balaton used a second-half surge to overtake Central Minnesota Christian School 54-42 in Camden Conference basketball action Friday in Prinsburg.

Cassie Hook led the Panthers with 13 points, six assists and three steals. Sammie Gervais dropped in 10 points, while Morgan Hoffbeck added eight points and six rebounds. Kassidy Przymus contributed six points, six boards and three steals in the win.

Lexi Scott recorded a double-double for the Bluejays, with 10 points and 10 rebounds in addition to swiping five steals. Danielle Wubben collected 11 points, while Christine Mikelson had four. Mary Covert added six boards.
