BOYS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Panthers edge Bluejays 68-60

TRACY – Tracy-Milroy-Balaton snuck past CMCS with a 68-60 Camden conference victory.

Brett Swenhaugen controlled the floor, scoring 16 points and recording six rebounds, fives assists, two steals and one blocked shot. With the hot-hand for the Panthers was Josh Kirk, knocking-down 28 points with nine from beyond the arc and went 7-for-7 from the free throw line. Spencer Smith contributed 15 points, seven rebounds and three steals.

CMCS had three players in double-digits for scoring including Taylor Slagter(20), Lucas Van Eps(17) and Austin Bulthuis(12). Van Eps hit five three-pointers and totaled six assits and two steals in the effort.

TMB is back in action against Dawson-Boyd on Friday.

COTTONWOOD – Cousins Michael Lee and Joey Lee combined for 51 of 80 points as Dawson-Boyd defeated Lakeview 80-46 in a Camden Conference game Tuesday.

Michael led all scorers with 31 points and added eight rebounds, four assists, four blocked shots and two steals. Joey contributed 20 points and six assists, while Jess Hansen scored 12 points for the Blackjacks (11-0 overall, 9-0 Camden North).

Jonah Dovre scored 14 points and collected seven rebounds to lead Lakeview (4-9, 1-6). Max Horner recorded 11 points, while Jordan Larsen added seven points and two steals.

Dawson-Boyd hosts Tracy-Milroy-Balaton on Friday. Lakeview plays at Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg, also Friday.

CANBY – The Canby boys basketball team shutdown KMS in a 73-17 conference victory, improving to 10-3 on the season.

Michael Slaba inspired the Lancers recording 14 points, six assists and three steals. Josh Gallegos added 12, seven rebounds and two steals. Kristian Leppke and Zach Nuy knocked-down nine and eight points, respectively. McKinley Johansen handed-out six assists and Nick Prokop contributed two blocks.

KMS was led by James Faulkner and Taylor Feldman scoring eight and seven points, respectively.

Canby continues action on the road against Lac qui Parle Valley on Friday.

MINNEOTA – Minneota secured a 69-65 win over MACCRAY behind clutch free throws in the concluding minutes of the game.

Both teams swapped the lead several times throughout the games but the Vikings were able to fight back to claim the victory.

Daniel Harrison had a big night for Minneota, leading the team with 20 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals. Dylan Tolk and Jordan Beck each contributed 17 points in the victory. Tolk tallied four three-pointers while Beck and Austin Buysse each had two. Buysse also grabbed seven rebounds.

The Wolverine’s Carter Asche contributed was firing on all cylinders, recording 24 points, nine rebounds, and five blocks in the effort. Bailey Boike added 16 points and Jacob Avile handed-out seven assists.

The Vikings improve to 8-2 overall and will play in Wabasso on Thursday.

SLAYTON -Murray County Central stretched a 26-21 halftime lead into a 63-42 Red Rock Conference victory Tuesday in Slayton.

Grant Everson and Jaden Boerboom led the Rebel scoring with 14 points apiece, while Grant Rohrer added 10. Rohrer also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds and blocked four shots, while Zach Ostman earned six points and five assists. Everson added four steals in the win.

Bennett Appel led the Raiders with 19 points and nine boards.

TYLER – A double-double from Brett Peterson and Brett Vercruysse pushed the RTR Knights (9-2) to a 66-23 victory over Renville County West.

Peterson led the team with 19 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists. Vercruysse added 16 points and 11 rebounds of his own. The Knights totaled 45 rebounds as a team on the night. Brett Knutson also scored in double-digits contributing 11 points and three steals in the victory.

RCW was led by Ian Engtrom with seven points and five rebounds. Brady Holwerda added four points and three assists in the effort.

Ellsworth had four players scoring in double-digits including Justin Kruse(13), Drew Cheskie(12), Johnathon Kramer (11) and Mitchell Leuthold (11).

WWG’s Shane Buchman earned a double-double grabbing 14 rebounds and knocking-down ten points. Alex Knutson scored 20 points and earned three assists.
