REVILLO, S.D. – Services for Eugene Adler, 72, of Revillo, S.D., will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Revillo, S.D. Burial will be in the Marshall Cemetery in Marshall. Visitation will be from 6-8:30 p.m. Sunday at the Houseman Funeral Home in Clear Lake, S.D., and will resume Monday at the church one hour prior to the service.
He died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014.
Eugene “Gene” Adler was born April 17, 1941, to Eugene (Bob) and Eva (Wright) Adler of Marshall. He attended school at Marshall Elementary and graduated from Marshall High School in May of 1959. Gene then moved to the Revillo, S.D., area. He attended college at South Dakota State University in Brookings, S.D., and served eight years in the National Guard. Gene started driving semis at the age of 16, up and down the alleys of Marshall and by 17 was going to the cities and across country.
Gene married Sandra Kay Tribitt on Dec. 19, 1970. The couple farmed south of Revillo, S.D., and raised five kids. Along with farming Gene and Sandra owned and operated a landscaping business, with Gene trucking and hauling hay on the side.
Gene liked rebuilding old tractors and tractor pulling. He enjoyed socializing and telling stories of his life and adventures, sometimes even showing off how strong he was.
Gene is survived by five children: Eva Adler (and Kevin Seas), Sarah Adler, Charlie Adler (and Terri Lyn Nybo), Terry Adler (and Robyn Berg), Bobby Adler; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Gene is preceded in death by both of his parents; wife Sandra and grandson Jason Adler.
